Born in the ghetto pon the banks
Five a we huddle and we cuddle inna de one room ranch
Have to seek we food like the ants
So we hang out inna the street like a lizard pon a branch
I have something to say
I’m gonna say it once
I’m waiting for my day
That day to take my chance
So when I work give me my pay
My overtime my advance
I’m tired of being a victim of the circumstance
Girl from the streets from the gulley from the gutter
Remembering the days of dry bread without butter
Out in the streets I see friends I see foes
I see life comes I see life goes
People prey people like vultures and crows
Gunshot a beat like the north wind that blows
I’ve been through all of them woes, so
The streetlife style is no bed of rose
Who feels it knows don’t ask cuz it shows
To be a garrison is not what I chose
Don’t you think me want one of them big house weh posh too
Drink champagne with my spouse and a splash too
Don’t get redeye for things that I buy with my platinum card and my cash too
whoa
Big hummer jeep in my parking lot too
Pentium TV screen weh so flat too
Mama don’t cry if I live or I die
I really have to do what I got to had to
Girl from the streets from the gulley from the gutter
Remembering the days of dry bread without butter
Still a gwan trod it inna me one piece of suit ya
Still a gwan walk it inna me lean piece a boot ya
When it gets sticky me hafi trod it like Muta
Life is a school and the street is my tutor
If I was a boy I would’ve been a top shooter
Still I hold my joy me naw go turn no prostitute ya
I know me hafi make it so I’m trodding to the future
Cuz I have a dream like the great Martin Luther
Girl from the streets from the gulley from the gutter
Remembering the days of dry bread without butter
You gotta eat you gotta live
So definitely that’s the system, that’s streetlife
You understand me
And just it’s about going out there
Surpassing the dangers of the street
And just living it up, get by, overcome, be victorious
So, you know, that’s it. Streetlife.
Exceptional punk music! I love sloppy punk, but this manages to be clean without without losing any energy at all (maybe even getting more of it in the process!). Can't recommend it enough and show them to everyone I know zacharypinkham
